Figure 8 Park hero visual

Project overview

A landscape-led regeneration vision for a prominent three-hectare seafront site, developed to support the client’s bid to acquire the former Frontier Land site from Lancaster City Council.

Inspired by the Figure 8 Railway that once animated the site, the proposal brings together hotels, aparthotels and homes with restaurants, wellness facilities, family leisure, maker spaces and flexible venues for markets and events.

A looping public route connects a new central square, rewilded woodland and the promenade while improving pedestrian and cycle links between the seafront, the West End and Morecambe town centre.

The phased strategy activates the site from the outset and embeds biodiversity, low-carbon design and circular use of materials within a commercially viable long-term framework.
